Terms of Service
Effective date: July 12, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Dunbar mobile application ("Dunbar," the "App"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Acceptance of terms
Dunbar is a personal relationship-management app for iOS. By using it, you confirm that you can form a binding contract and that you will comply with these Terms and all applicable laws.
2. License and permitted use
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:
- copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App;
- reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code, except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
- use the App to violate any law or the rights of others; or
- interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the App or any connected service.
3. Beta software
Dunbar is currently offered as a free beta (including via Apple TestFlight). Beta software is a work in progress: it may contain bugs, may change or be discontinued at any time, and may not always work as intended. Features may be added, modified, or removed without notice. We may limit, suspend, or end the beta at our discretion.
4. Your data and device
Dunbar is local-first: your contacts and the information used to build your circles are stored on your device, as described in our Privacy Policy. You are responsible for the data you import into the App and for maintaining your own device, backups, and security. Because your data lives on your device, uninstalling the App or losing your device may result in loss of that data. We are not responsible for backing up or recovering your on-device data.
5. Third-party services
The App may let you connect third-party services such as Google Calendar. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. You are responsible for complying with them, and we are not responsible for third-party services or their availability.
6. "As is" — no warranty
The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or that any data or results obtained through it will be accurate or reliable.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Dunbar or its creators be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. To the extent liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the App (which, during the free beta, is zero) or USD $50.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, provide notice in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
9. Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the App.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [your governing-law jurisdiction — e.g., the State/Province and Country], without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located there, unless otherwise required by applicable law.
