Support
Need a hand with Dunbar, or have an idea to make it better? We read every message. The fastest way to reach a human is email — and there's a short help section below for the questions that come up most.
Email support
Write to support@thedunbar.app and tell us what's happening — the more detail (what you tried, what you expected, your device), the faster we can help.
Request a feature
Want Dunbar to do something new? Open the app and go to Settings → Support → Request a feature to send it right from your device. Prefer email? Send your idea to support@thedunbar.app with the subject "Dunbar feature request".
Installing Dunbar for Mac
Grab the latest build from the Dunbar for Mac download page, then:
-
1
Open the downloaded Dunbar.dmg.
-
2
Drag Dunbar into your Applications folder.
-
3
Open Dunbar from Applications and start importing.
Prefer the command line? The
npx dunbar-app helper imports your
Messages history the same way, from Terminal.
Why does Dunbar ask for Full Disk Access?
Dunbar needs Full Disk Access once to read Messages, Calendar, Contacts and WhatsApp on this Mac. This is an Apple restriction — macOS keeps those sources behind a single permission, and one grant unlocks every source.
All of the analysis happens on your Mac, and nothing leaves your device — Dunbar shares only message frequency and last-contacted dates with your iPhone, never the message text. You can turn Full Disk Access back off in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access after your import is done.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your contacts, calendar signals and history are processed and stored only on your device — Dunbar has no account and no server storing your personal data. See the privacy policy for the full details.
Still stuck?
Email support@thedunbar.app and we'll get back to you.
